For Our Hiveworld Customers

Hiveworld first started to deliver bees to our customers in 2006. Since then, we have successfully delivered thousands of packages and nucs throughout western Canada. Over the years we have delivered packages, nucs and starter hives to commercial beekeepers replacing losses and hobby and sideline beekeepers starting an alternate revenue stream.

As we have previously mentioned in our blog, Live Bees 2023, we will be supplying our customers with packages, nucs and starter hives for the coming 2023 year. Our packages will be coming from New Zealand with Carniolan queens. We have been able to reserve close to 8000 packages from our suppliers. The quantity and when we are able to bring to Canada will depend on flights and demand from our customers. With overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers in 2022 regarding our 5 frame Nucs we have 600 for purchase with plans to double our availability in 2024. 5 - Frame nucs are a great way to get into beekeeping or to make sure you start off your beekeeping season strong.

Aside from providing our customers with the best live bee products, we also offer equipment and beekeeping courses.

Beekeeping has picked up in popularity in recent years, and we at Hiveworld wanted to make sure that all new beekeepers started off on the right foot. In the beginning we had summer classes that our customers could attend and get certified within a couple of days. However due to COVID-19 we re-evaluated on how we could best reach our customers. We wanted to make sure that everyone could have access to our courses. We now offer our beekeeping courses through an online platform. Our course offers 16 modules that will  make you confident in Getting Started in Beekeeping. You can complete the course at your own pace and have lifetime access to it. Which means if you need to look up certain resources, diagrams, or just refresh your memory on what to do in the following season - it is right there at your fingertips.

With our Basics in Beekeeping course we also offer Hiveworld Hands-On. In this subscription you can join us for a live session through Youtube with one of our beekeepers. There we address what is happening during that particular week in beekeeping season. You are also welcome to ask our beekeeper any questions in regards to beekeeping. Here’s a video interview with one of our customers that has taken both our beekeeping courses and joins us for every Hands-On session.

We want all of our customers to enjoy beekeeping, to have a solid foundation and reliable source of knowledge. We look forward to meeting all new beekeepers and providing them with the right tools.

Oxalic Acid treatment. This is a very effective treatment for late fall and early spring. The reason is that during this time you will have almost no capped brood, which is the ideal time to use oxalic acid. The treatment is only effective on the bees and is unable to penetrate through the comb. It’s safe for the bees and is entirely natural. Oxalic acid is an organic compound that can be found in many vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and other plants. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for Varroa Mite and approved to be used in Canada for many years.
