Live Bees Guarantee

Spring Bees - minimum 3-pound package of live bees

These bees are government inspected to be top-quality at the time they reach you. Each brood has gone through three cycles before shipment, so you know it's healthy. These Chilean bees can be picked up or shipped by Canada Post.

The bees must be placed in your hive within 24 hours of receipt.

Upon receipt of the bees or within 24 hours of receipt, if the queen is dead, or if more than 50% of bees are dead, we will replace them free-of-charge.

You can request 30-day colony success insurance for $75, which includes Canada Post insurance against loss in transit. You'll find this purchase option available to you when ordering your bees.

You can also request 90-day colony success insurance for $125, which includes Canada Post insurance against loss in transit. Likewise, you'll find this purchase option available to you when ordering your bees.

Any questions about bee health can be addressed by our expert staff or the office of the Provincial Apiculturist via email, or phone at (780) 422-1881.

Spring Bees - 10-frame hive

These overwintered Alberta bees on frames are government-inspected to be top-quality when they reach you. Each brood has gone through three cycles before shipment, so you know it's healthy. You are encouraged to inspect the bees at our pick-up location. Talk to us or bring a mentor if you are unsure what to look for. These supplies are generally ordered by experienced beekeepers, but additional colony success insurance is available (see below).

  • If the bees are less than healthy when they reach you, we will replace them at no cost. This includes the death of the queen in her shipping cage and the absence of eggs three days after receiving the hive.
  • If the bees are shipped by Canada Post there should be no more than a scattering of dead bees on the bottom of the hive.

You can request 30-day colony success insurance for $75, including Canada Post insurance against loss in transit. This covers eggs, queens and failure to thrive. You can also request 90-day colony success insurance for $125 with the same coverage extended 60 days longer.
